Yep, I have to admit it. I will be standing in line with a bunch of other geeks, nerds, dorks, and dweebs for the midnight showing of Star Wars: Episode III. It just can’t be helped. I’ve been seduced by the dork side.
But while we’re all waiting for 12:01 AM, Thursday, May 19, 2005, how ’bout we enjoy some Star Wars dorkness together?
- University of Arizona Astronomy students turn the Steward Observatory into a giant R2-D2 (be sure to click the pic for a bigger one)
- A shirt for those of us who know better (credit to Scott)
- Scene from A New Hope, re-imagined
- H-Wing carfighter
- Star Wars creatures take over Animal Planet
Okay, that’s enough dorkness for now, I think. Feel free to add your own links in the comments.

Won’t be even *trying* to see the midnight showing. We’ll wait a bit.
You’ll be busy soppin’ up water anyway
I will go see this movie, against my better judgement and (almost) against my will. Lucas has already disappointed me with the first two prequels, but I must finish the trilogy. I hate the fact that I must give him more money in order to have closure.
From everything I’ve seen, heard, and read, this is the one most people wish the first two had been.
It’s all good Chris. I wish I were up there to be in line with ya and you know I would…..I’m afraid though that I’ll have to wait until 7:30 on the 19th. No matter how people think of the first two (good or bad)…..there’s just a burning desire that flows, for this now 6 part trilogy, ever since 1977. It’s that desire to bring us back to our youth of this series of film that drives us to see it again and again. When a single movie changed the world, not only how movies were made (special effects), rich characters, great themes, but how we see ourselves as well(good or evil, right or wrong).
May the dorkiness be with us……Always
Did you dress up? Was it worth the wait?
Totally worth the wait. I didn’t dress up, but some people did. A couple of guys had lightsaber duels down in front of the screen before the movie started. They were pretty good.
Once the movie started, there was cheering and clapping in all the right places. Pretty damn awesome. And I don’t think Jar-Jar Binks said one word! (That was just a bonus.)
