Weighing In

by Chris Maddera on August 17, 2005

I know it’s been awhile since I’ve checked in, but I’ve lost 7 lbs. since my previous post. I wish I could say that it’s because I’ve been hitting the Y like a crazed madman, but I can’t. I stopped going for almost two months because of laziness, and then there was the hernia thing.

So, I think the biggest factor for my continuing weightloss is a drastic cutback in my sugar consumption. I still drink tons of coffee, but I’ve been using Splenda instead of sugar. Those of you that know me can easily imagine how much sugar I haven’t been taking in. For those that don’t know me, it’s a lot.

And I haven’t been drinking as much soda over the last month as I normally would…although I should probably drink more soda because, as Audrae Erickson (she’s President of the Corn Refiners Association) suggests, high fructose corn syrup is good for me. Yay!

I also think we’ve been eating less food lately.

YAYAY Chris! Now you’ll just die of cancer from eating Splenda, but at least it won’t be heart disease or diabetes! :) No really, I’m very very happy for you!

Oh yeah, baby. It’s best if you consume LOTS of high fructose corn syrup AND palm oil, and chase it with sodas while sitting naked on a park bench, smoking cigarettes and rubbing twinkies all over your nipples. That is insane.

Congrats on the weight loss. It sounds like this few pounds was almost effortless–great! I’m happy for you.

The thing is it was almost effortless. It was nothing big, just one or two little changes and this is what happens. I might have lost double that had I been going to the Y over the past two months.

Congratulations! I haven’t been going to the gym for the last two or three months, either, but my weight has remained constant. I think it’s because I’ve lost muscle tone while gaining fat. I definitely look flabbier, but the scale says I weigh the same, so it must be that I’ve lost my muscles (which weigh more) and added some light-n-fluffy love handles to my frame.

Pepsi One. I don’t drink diet Coke any more (caused headaches for me).

There are two Diet Cokes out now. One is the regular version, and the other is new and made with Splenda. It’ll have the Splenda logo on the bottle.
