As I mentioned last year, I have given up trying to turn my hopes, dreams, goals, projects, etc. into reality.
So, here’s a few things I’ll be doing this year:
Writing a novel — It’s a science fiction story (or speculative fiction as the kids like to call it these days). It will be approximately 85,000 words long, and you can track my progress with the little graph in the sidebar.
Losing 85 lbs. by October 31th — When I meet this goal, I’ll probably get a tattoo, but I’m definitely getting a new bike. Right now, I have my heart set on this one.

If anyone wants to give me a REI gift card, I promise I will only use it for a bike and only after I meet my goal. You can track my progress here.
Reading more — I have a bad habit of starting books and not finishing them. I’m picking up some of those books and restarting them. The first book I’m restarting is The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan. I became interested in this book after hearing about it on All Things Considered on NPR. Track my reading list here. (I know the next book I’ll be reading is The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism by Naomi Klein).
Keeping my blog updated — The only way you’ll know I’m really doing anything is if I tell you, so I have to tell you. And if I’m not posting, it’s most likely because I’m slacking off, and I feel guilty about it.
Okay, so that’s just a few things I’ll do this year. How about you guys? Anything? Come on, be honest.

Well, I’ve started one of my website projects over the holidays (gamebrainspew.com) with one more to take to beta and hopefully complete and one more to start.
Good luck!
written any words on your novel yet today?
if you wrote about 230 words a day, you would have the first pass draft in a year.
Well, I already mentioned some of what I plan to do on my blog, but I also need to get back in shape. I’ve been feeling a mite bit squishy lately. My jeans are fitting a little too snug.
But hey: wouldn’t a bike help get in shape and lose weight?
Sometimes I think it would be better if Pete and I stopped our gym memberships and just bought some equipment of our own…it would make me feel less guilty, somehow.
1 goal: Stay self-employed. Which means I actually have to start making more than $50 bucks a month.
i cant even post my goals on my pictureless web site!
Yet.
I misread that post and thought you were getting a tattoo of a bike. That would be cool.
That would be cool. So when I tell people that I want a bike, and they ask what kind, I can just point to the tattoo.
Homer Simpson “Can’t update website . . . Yet”
I’ll take you and Cindy to my tattoo guy, she can get her elephant thingy and you can get the bike. Yaaaaaaaaaa
