Forgetting The Pats

February 4, 2007

On weekends, I babysit for some friends who are on-call for a hospital. Whenever they get called in, I get called over to watch their 21-month-old son. I have been doing this for about 5 months now, and whenever I have just changed Quinn’s diaper, I lift him from the changing table and set him [...]

8-Year Anniversary

March 14, 2006

Cindy and I have been married for eight years as of today. And because the traditional 8-year anniversary gifts are bronze and pottery, I’ve been spending the morning planting tubes of sun tan lotion in terra cotta pots. Cindy will be so surprised! September 29, 2005

One of my favorite garage sale moments happened a few years ago when Todd was getting rid of everything he owned in preparation for his move to Japan. A frumpy woman in a flowery shirt pulled a $5.00 metal wine rack off a shelf, looked at the price tag, and turned to Todd. “How much [...]

Scary Night at the Old Folks’ Home

July 24, 2005

My mom just called to tell me that some asshole kicked their front door in at around 10:30 tonight. They had been sitting in the livingroom watching TV and talking. My mom had just finished a bowl of ice cream and was in the kitchen, putting the dish in the sink when they heard the [...]
